Road cycling for fitness, is a great way to keep in shape. With a sport like road cycling you can build yourself up to an unbelievable level of fitness, and of course it doesn’t have to be hundreds of miles each week. You can start slowly and then build up your distances, as things progress, and depending how fit you where before you started you should see things progressing along quite quickly. A good starting point would be about ten to twenty kilometres or so. Then keeping this level going for a few weeks, and then slowing building up to a higher level. I suppose getting the right road bike counts for a lot, personally i prefer a hybrid, the Claud Butler Urban 200, which is a great bike for road and also nipping about the town.
The goodiesmart road cycling club, is a club which involves every day people getting a lot of fun out of cycling by holding a few road cycling events each year. These events are held in different locations throughout the UK. The last one was held near the lake district in Cumbria. Quite a few members turned up for this event, which was started in a stunning location, close to Ullswater Lake. The course was just over 160 kilometres long, so it was a very long and hard ride by anyone’s standards. A lot of the course was taken up by hills, so by all means a very demanding and tough test for all the riders. But by all accounts the race went very well. Lots of different bikes where on show, one of the first to cross the line had a 3t stem and was a really super bike.
Sport in general is probably the best way to keep fit and stay active; either at an early age and even when you start to get older. All types of sport are good for your health, but in my opinion cycling is probably the best, especially if you are using one of the best bicycle brands.
